Folks, this is deeply troubling. The ACLU, in their own words, is in its largest campaign fundraising effort in the history of their organization. They say that as of Monday, June 9th, they have raised over a quarter of a billion dollars ($258 million to be exact) in pledges and planned gifts and are on the road to raising over a third of a billion dollars ($335 million to be exact). These numbers are staggering sums. How many advocacy organizations have assets this size?

Update as of 5/15/08
According to this story, the ACLU is suing every prosecutor and sheriff in the state of Indiana. This is beyond nuts. We're going to organize a huge rally and picket outside the ACLU of Indiana's offices. Details are forthcoming. We must do this, despite the astronomically high gas prices (please demand, not ask, Congress to act and start drilling for oil and stop depending on foreign oil) to get to Indianapolis. Contact me if you wish to help coordinator this effort and/or come. The ACLU must be bankrupted! Can we get 1000 out? It's up to you. Spread the word.
The ACLU can say whatever it wants but I think it’s time to recommend treatment for their apparent addiction to defending it. |
